Shenando Stals recently obtained his master degree in interaction design. For his master thesis project “Personal Relationships with the City”, which was a collaboration between Edinburgh Napier University and the Eindhoven University of Technology, he explored how people experience the city at an individual level by walking with people through the city in order to investigate their personal relationships with their own personally significant places in the city (for example the pub where they had met their partner or the shop where they buy their coffee everyday on their way to work). He will be presenting the methodology used to investigate those person-place relationships and how insights in people’s personal relationships with the city could inform the design of new technological devices and services.
